Politics matters
I suppose that anyone reading this right now probaby doesn’t have to be convinced of this simple fact: politics matters. You can’t blame the Bush administration for this hurricane. Oh sure, you can blame them for some of the ineptness of the response. You can blame them for having cut funds for the Corps of Engineers and for wetlands restoration in southeast Louisiana. You can certainly point to one party as being markedly better than the other on environmental issues. But way more importantly is the basic thesis in Molly Ivins’s column. Politics does effect your life. Policy has real consequences. And yes, my anarchist friends, voting does matter.
